Raphael (Johnny Depp) is an alcoholic American Indian–just out of jail and unemployed–when McCarthy (Marlon Brando) offers him $50,000 to be tortured to death for a snuff film. Raphael lives with his wife Rita (Elpidia Carrillo) and their children, Frankie and Marta (Cody Lightning and Nicole Mancera) near a junkyard, and he accepts the offer because the money will help his family build a better life.
