This silent film involves a race between an American ship, "The Yankee Clipper" manned by Hal Winslow (William Boyd), and a British ship, "The Lord of the Isles" manned by Huntington (Louis Payne). The race begins at Foo Chow, China, and will end at Boston harbor. The winner will win the rights to China's tea trade with America and also will become the owner of the losing ship. Before leaving Foo Chow, Winslow is visited by his opposing captain's daughter, Lady Jocelyn (Elinor Fair), and her fiance Raul de Vigny (John Miljan). Before Lady Jocelyn and de Vigny disembark, the ship sails away from the harbor, and problems lie ahead–including a typhoon, a mutiny encouraged by de Vigny, and even an attempted rape of Lady Jocelyn and murder of de Vigny after a chase that leads to the top of the rigging.
