Donna's (Brittany Snow) family was murdered by her psychopathic teacher Richard Fenton (Johnathon Schaech) who was caught and has been locked up in a maximum security asylum. Now, Donna is recovering from the tragedy and is ready to enjoy her senior prom with boyfriend Bobby (Scott Porter) and her good friends Claire (Jessica Stroup) and Lisa (Dana Davis) who, with their boyfriends Ronie (Collins Pennie) and Michael (Kelly Blatz), are looking forward to the big event. But, unbeknownst to Donna, Fenton has escaped from the asylum and is determined to find Donna and kill her. Detective Winn (Idris Elba) is on Fenton's trail. Will he be able to prevent Fenton from carrying out his deadly plot?

The serial killer stepfather, David Harris (Dylan Walsh), is engaged to marry Susan (Sela Ward) when her 16-year-old son, Michael (Penn Badgley), arrives home from military school for summer vacation.
