Georges Laurent (Daniel Auteuil) hosts a literary review roundtable and lives a comfortable life in his book-filled townhouse with wife Anne (Juliette Binoche) and 12-year-old son Pierrot (Lester Makedonsky). One day, they receive a two-hour video tape of their home. More video tapes appear, often with childish drawings, giving the family a sense of danger hanging over them as it is apparent someone is monitoring their house. Tensions mount as Georges (and viewers as well) tries to solve the mystery.
