  Divorced and legally barred from seeing her daughters, 28-year-old Betty (Marie Trintignant) is taken under the wing of middle-aged Laure (Stephane Audran). The two women spend their time drinking scotch and reminiscing through flashbacks. While Laure tries to help Betty, she makes the mistake of missing the flaws in Betty's personality and pays for it in the end.
