Very entertaining. Christopher Walken received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role; the film was also nominated for its Musical Score.

This film provides an excellent satire on the art of filmmaking. At the center of all the turmoil is the director, Ferrand (Francois Truffaut), who attempts to keep his cast in line at least long enough to complete the project. The cast includes temperamental Alphonse (Jean-Pierre Leaud), emotionally unstable Julie (Jacqueline Bisset), closet homosexual Alexandre (Jean-Pierre Aumont), alcoholic Severine (Valentina Cortese), and pregnant Stacey (Alexandra Stewart)–all of whose problems affect Ferrand's effort to keep the filming on track. Winner of Best Foreign Film Academy Award.

But, at the same time, the beauticians suffer their own psychological ups and downs running the gamut from casual sex to jealousy to suicide. This film received four Cesars (French Oscars) for Best Picture, Screenplay, Director, and Young Actress.
