They stop at nothing to maintain control of the world that seems to be passing them by, and problems come to a head when Midge is threatened with retirement from his job of apartment manager. While Nat steps in to help Midge, they take on a drug dealer, The Cowboy (Craig T. Nelson), and a mugger, J.C. (Guillermo Diaz), and, in the process, stop The Cowboy from harming young Laurie Campbell (Martha Plimpton).
