  Lawrence Kasdan's thought-provoking film concerns the reunion of a group of 1960s' liberals after the funeral of a friend who committed suicide. Harold and Sarah Cooper (Kevin Kline and Glenn Close) host a reunion at their South Carolina home, and, during the weekend they are together, the "thirtysomething" friends share their past experiences, relationships, and the challenges of adulthood. Academy Award nominations included Best Picture and Supporting Actress (Close).

The story spans 25 years in their lives as they form a relationship and become kindred spirits in a world that is changing around them. Great entertainment. Academy Awards were received for Best Picture and Best Actress (Tandy). Awards were also received for Best Writing and Makeup, as well as five nominations, including Best Actor (Freeman).
