The husband of cabaret singer Chris Emery (Rita Hayworth) is murdered by a spy believed to be Max Fabian (Alexander Scourby). What Steve does not know is that Chris is working secretly with the police in an effort to get more information on Fabian. Her investigation leads to a plot to set up a rocket launching site within range of the United States. When Fabian realizes what Chris is doing, her life is in danger, but, in the nick of time, Steve comes to her rescue.
