Japanese-American Clark (Richard Gere) travels to visit and apologize to his Aunt Kane (Sachiko Murase) for the U.S. bombing of Nagasaki during World War II. Kane was a survivor of the catastrophe, and the film explores the bombing through her grandchildren's reaction to the conversation between nephew Clark and Aunt Kane.
