Lonely divorcee Regina (Fernanda Montenegro) helps out the Rio police department by spying in her neighborhood but is kicked off the force when she reports seeing her neighbor kill a woman. Her neighbor is respected, retired Judge Camargo (Raul Cortez), and the police do not believe Regina's story. Regina decides to investigate on her own, and her surveillance leads to a romantic relationship between the two.
