Frank bucks the system and, with the help of his wife (Maureen Stapleton), succeeds in his efforts to overturn the decision. Nineteen-year-old Michael J. Fox makes his debut in this good film. (The "letters" referred to in the title are those sent to his oldest son (Mike Farrell) expressing frustrations with his situation.)
