A Mormon wagon train, led by Elder Wiggs (Ward Bond), is headed for the Utah territory, and two horse traders–Travis (Ben Johnson) and Sandy (Harry Carey Jr.)–are hired to guide them there. Along the way they are joined by Dr. A. Locksley Hall (Alan Mowbray) and his medicine show troupe.
