Greased Lightning   1977     2 stars    PG, 94 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: Michael Schultz
Cast: Richard Pryor, Beau Bridges, Pam Grier, Cleavon Little, Vincent Gardenia, Richie Havens, Julian Bond

This is a biography of the first black stock-car racing champion Wendell Scott. Richard Pryor performs beautifully in the title role, but the slow plot detracts from the film.

Krush Groove   1985     half star    R, 95 min.
Genre: Musical
Director: Michael Schultz
Cast: Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Blair Underwood, Sheila E., Joseph Simmons

This movie mixes some well-known musicians with other little-known ones in a weak story about a fledgling recording company. The half-star is for the good soundtrack (for this type of story).
