They overcome their differences and work together, and information from the town sheriff's wife (Frances McDormand) helps in solving the case. The film won an Oscar for Best Cinematography and was nominated for six others, including Best Picture, Actor (Hackman), Supporting Actress (Frances McDormand) and Director.

  When a slug from outer space arrives in the town of Little Wheelsy and infects local businessman Grant Grant (Michael Rooker), mutates him into a flesh-eating squid-man that turns his victims into zombies, his wife Starla (Elizabeth Banks) and a police officer (Nathan Fillion) flee for their lives.
