  Marcus Hubbard (Fredric March) is a vicious man living in the Deep South who profited from the Civil War. He is also a mean father and husband. Then one son, Ben (Edmond O'Brien), finds out that Marcus was responsible for the death of Confederate troops and threatens to blow the whistle. This film begins 20 years before the Lillian Hellman book and movie, "The Little Foxes," which carried on the story of the Hubbard family.

  In this "Boston Blackie" episode, Blackie (Chester Morris) and his sidekick The Runt (George E. Stone) are about to board a train when Blackie gets a call from his friend Arthur Manleder (Lloyd Corrigan) asking him to retrieve $60,000 from his apartment and then fly to California and give it to him. Police Inspector Farraday (Richard Lane) gets wind of the request, arrives on the scene with Detective Sgt. Matthews (Walter Sande), and accuses Blackie of stealing. But, they let Blackie escape and follow him to California hoping to nail Manleder who they believe has possession of the stolen Monterey Diamond. Blackie suspects that he is being followed and uses his own unique methods to solve the case of the stolen diamond.

Jose Ferrer won the Oscar for his performance as Cyrano.

  This was the first of several Doris Day/Rock Hudson romantic comedies. In this story, Brad (Hudson) and Jan (Day) share a telephone party line, and Brad is often on the phone wooing women. He and Jan argue, but, after his old college friend Jonathan Forbes (Tony Randall) falls for Jan, Brad decides to seduce Jan over the phone. Knowing that she would never be interested in him, Brad pretends to be a Texas Rancher, "Rex Stetson." He calls Jan; however, she soon catches on to his ploy, but romance takes over, and they fall in love. Day received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, Thelma Ritter was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Jan's hung-over maid Alma, and the film won an Oscar for Best Writing.
