Director: Michael Bay Cast: Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding Jr., Alec Baldwin, William Lee Scott, Greg Zola, Catherine Kellner, Ewen Bremner, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, Dan Aykroyd
Best friends Rafe (Ben Affleck) and Danny (Josh Hartnett)–two parts of a romantic triangle–go off to join the war in this love story. Devoting a total of 40 out of 184 minutes to the attack on Pearl Harbor and its aftermath hardly does justice to the Japanese bombing that killed 3,000 Americans and rallied U.S. citizens into an all-out effort to win World War II. For a much better focus on Pearl Harbor, watch Richard Fleischer's "Tora! Tora! Tora!" An Academy Award was received for Best Sound Editing, and the film was nominated for three other awards.
