Marks) to Evil Eye Fleagle (Al Nesor), Marryin' Sam (Stubby Kaye), and Sen. Jack S. Phogbound (Ted Thurston). When the U.S. Congress selects the hillbilly town of Dogpatch to test the Atomic bomb, Li'l Abner goes with his Mammy and Pappy to Washington, D.C., to persuade the government to spare Dogpatch by arguing that Mammy's Yokumberry tonic gives the town value that cannot be replaced. Meanwhile, Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae encounter problems in their romance that, hopefully, will be overcome.

This production tells the story of an affair between an American insurance executive (George Segal) living in London with his family and a British dress designer (Glenda Jackson) separated from her husband. They meet and have an affair in spite of a myriad of problems. Glenda Jackson won the Best Actress Oscar for her role. Somehow, this dull picture was also nominated for an Oscar.
