  While grieving over the death of his wife, Ray Keene (John Cusack) takes a hike in the woods with his young son Chris (Jamie Anderson). During their trek, they run into handcuffed assassin Frank Cardin (Morgan Freeman) who has escaped from the FBI. Ray takes Cardin into custody and attempts to turn him in–only to be pursued in the wilderness by Cardin's team of assassins.
