In this "talking dog" film, a Chocolate Labrador (voice of Matthew Modine) discovers that he was once a man, Thomas P. Johnson (also played by Modine) who was killed in an accident, and now he is back on Earth as a dog named Fluke. He returns to his wife and son–Carol and Brian (Nancy Travis and Max Pomeranc)–in time to save them from an evil acquaintance, Jeff Newman (Eric Stoltz).
