World War III has come and gone. There are just a few survivors, and they are fighting over what is left in gasoline. The survivors hire Max to aid them in protecting their oil refinery that is under siege by a band of sadomasochistic motorcyclists led by The Humungus (Kjell Nilsson) and his warrior Wez (Vernon Wells). The climax, featuring a thrilling car chase scene, is the highlight of this film.
