Simon goes one step further and fashions the story by describing his father as a killer and posting the story on the Internet. The story now becomes an obsession provoking discussions about the difference between freedom fighters and terrorists.

Set in British Columbia, this mystery involves the stories of a tragic accident of a school bus filled with 14 children; the relationships of the residents of their town; and, particularly, the incestuous relationship of a father and his daughter. Attorney Mitchell Stephens (Ian Holm) has his work cut out for him in uncovering events leading to the disaster. Egoyan was nominated for a Best Director Oscar.
