  A young Laraine Day is the highlight of this remake (at least in part) of the 1931 film. Bob McVey (George O'Brien) and girlfriend Carol Banning (Laraine Day) work on their Tungsten mine, but there is a bad person, Charles M. Banning (Lloyd Ingraham) out there who wants it for himself.

  This story takes place in Vienna where Lt. "Niki" von Preyn (Maurice Chevalier) shares an apartment with his lover Franzi (Claudette Colbert). When King Adolf XV (George Barbier) visits the city, his dowdy daughter Princess Anna (Miriam Hopkins) falls in love with "Niki," and he is forced to marry her. But, "Niki" refuses to consummate the marriage–until good-hearted Franzi performs a makeover on Anna, and "Niki" falls for Anna. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

  Whispering Smith's (George O'Brien) father is the president of a railroad, and, in order to learn the business, he works as a track walker. Along the way, he meets and befriends Nan Roberts (Irene Ware) who is planning to sell her Colorado ranch. When Whispering Smith learns that there is valuable tungsten on Nan's land, he comes to her aid before her land is taken from her by villains.
