Stressed-out, New York City marketing executive Kate (Meg Ryan) meets her true love, Leopold (Hugh Jackman), when her ex-boyfriend Stuart (Liev Schreiber) opens a portal and accidentally retrieves Leopold from the Victorian era of 1878. Leopold is very intelligent, and, as Kate tours him through the city, he is fascinated with modern times. They begin their romance in the midst of Leopold's temporary status in the present day world. A good comedy about time travel.

But the film shows how Pollock's energetic and creative work of splashing paint on canvas resulted in his rise to fame as an abstract artist. Marcia Gay Harden won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in her role as Pollock's long-suffering wife and caretaker. Ed Harris was nominated for Best Actor.
