  This is a love story about musical genius Ludwig von Beethoven (Gary Oldman) who, when he died in 1827, left behind papers hinting at the identity of a great love of his life. His secretary Anton Felix Schindler (Jeroen Krabbe) tries to uncover the identity of the mystery woman, and his investigation reveals Beethoven's relationships with countesses–one of whom may have played a special role in his life.
