Timid, mama's boy "Peaceful" Patton (Hoot Gibson) vowed not fight. He takes a job at Senora Martini's (Lina Basquette) ranch and is routinely mistaken for a notorious gunman, "Hard Hombre." He even uses the mistaken identity to break up a dispute between ranchers over water rights. When the real "Hard Hombre" (Frank Winkleman) comes to town and slugs "Peaceful's" mother (Jessie Arnold), "Peaceful" becomes enraged and takes care of "Hard Hombre."
