On September 1, 2001, French intelligence agent Irene Montano (Juliette Binoche) gets a call from her former colleague, American spy Elliot (Nick Nolte), asking her to arrange a visit between him and his daughter Orlando (Sara Forestier). Irene picks up Orlando and takes her to Paris where they team up with Elliot's stepson David (Tom Riley).
