  During the Japanese invasion of Shanghai in 1941, Jamie Graham (Christian Bale) was 11-years-old when he was separated from his upper-class parents, captured, and placed in a Japanese confinement camp. While in prison, Jamie overcomes illness and food shortages. He learns how to survive and shares his spirit with others in the camp.

However, during testing an insect is in the wrong place and later lays an egg which begets more eggs, which, in turn, feed a monster queen insect that feeds on Godzilla's energy. The battle begins with the humans as underdogs.

  After years of monster destruction, Earthlings create a powerful mutant defense force. But, they do not pass muster when Earth is attacked by numerous monsters. After being found out, they unleash a terrible hoard of monsters thoughout Earth. There is only one monster that can deal with this situation: Godzilla. This film marks the 50th anniversary of Godzilla and had its world premier at Grauman's Chinese Theater in celebration. (Godzilla also received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.)
