  This film is based on Michael Crichton's novel about Transicom (a greedy American corporation) whose C.E.O., R.B. Travis (Joe Don Baker), sends a group to search for diamonds in Africa. When the group goes missing, Travis sends former CIA operative Karen Ross (Laura Linney) into the jungles in search of the group and the diamonds. Karen travels with a researcher of ape development, Peter (Dylan Walsh), and a Romanian, Herkermer (Tim Curry), who is searching for the Lost City of Zinj. Once they reach Africa, they are met by "great white hunter" Monroe Kelly (Ernie Hudson). While on their journey, they encounter a danger they had not planned on in the form of bloodthirsty gorillas. Special effects are a good addition to the story.

But, both women have been taking potions to prevent aging that has left them immortal, and their violent attacks on each other only leave them with injuries. As a result, both become dependent on the plastic surgery services of Ernest. The special effects in this film are worth the price of admission.

Mack thanks Simon by helping Simon's sister Deborah (Tina Lifford) move out of the neighborhood and by setting up a date for Simon with Jane (Alfre Woodard). Other neighborhood problems and solutions ensue as the lives of residents from different backgrounds intertwine.

  Love the movie had magor crush on the guy that played Rudy the cool kid. Love all the sayings in the movie, but favorite saying wolf man's got narks when the fat kid said it. But over all I give this a movie a big thumbs up LOVE it!

  powerful and moving story of a family being torn apart by the tragic death of a son. Great acting in this moving drama. Wonderful cinematography for the 80's. Set in Montana...beautiful scenery (including one of the extras...a real knockout!)
