  This well-made thriller is based on Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw." Set in the late 19th century, the story involves a governess, Miss Giddens (Deborah Kerr), and orphaned children Flora and Miles (Pamela Franklin and Martin Stephens) who live in a haunted manse. Miss Giddens has been hired by the children's uncle (Michael Redgrave) as a governess, and soon after taking the job, she starts seeing ghosts. Then she learns from the housekeeper (Megs Jenkins) that the children may be possessed with evil spirits. While questioning her own sanity, Miss Giddens does decide to rescue the children from whatever has them in its grip.

Easton comes up with a scheme to sue the newspapers for libel after he causes his own arrest for supposed espionage. He makes it look like he is a traitor and then maroons himself on an island. After being rescued, he convinces the Special Branch that he is innocent and then visits Virginia. Will she be impressed?

Finally, Gordon sets out to destroy the children but loses his own life in the process.

Perhaps Gwen's "training" can help.
