Tracy (Martine Carol) hires American contraband runner Carson (Van Johnson) to smuggle her into Albania on his yacht. Her relative, Henri (Gustavo Rojo), is a political prisoner, and Tracy wants Carson's help in rescuing him. Carson is involved in smuggling Greek children out of Albania, and for this mission he gets help from Albanian outlaws, led by Trifon (Herbert Lom). The trek through Albania is treacherous, but they do find Henri, and they pick up children and begin a desperate escape attempt to board Carson's yacht and reach safety.
