Another focus is on a troubled boy, Tom Spencer (Nick Stahl), who cannot speak of the brutal crime he witnessed despite kind interrogation from Sheriff Sam Rogers (Hal Holbrook).

Nevertheless, one cannot help but like her rationality about her unique philosophy.
