  This Dutch film won an Academy Award as Best Foreign Language Film. The story begins on the day of Antonia's death and then uses flashbacks to tell the tale. Antonia (Willeke van Ammelrooy) began a commune on her farm shortly after World War II ended. The commune was made up of women who chose alternative lifestyles of having sex and children while rejecting marriages and control by men.
