Business had been good in the past for Pat (John C. Reilly) and Jerry (William Fichtner) as they ran an insurance scam wherein they talked terminally-ill policyholders into cashing in on their life insurance and profiting from the transaction. But now that improved treatments keep such people alive longer, their company is in trouble. When the beautiful Barbara (Kelly McGillis) shows up at their office, they are not sure if this is good or bad news for their future.
