"Red" concludes Krzysztof Kieslowski's trilogy, following "White" and "Blue." Connections, or misconnections, we all experience as we go about our lives is the theme of this film about Valentine (Irene Jacob) who runs over a dog with her car. She rescues the dog and then returns it to its owner, Judge Joseph Kern (Jean-Louis Trintignant) who says that he no longer wants it. The judge is a bitter old man, but, after a series of connections, Valentine grows close to him, and they both gain happiness through their friendship. Director Kieslowski was nominated for an Oscar.
