Adapted from Richard Matheson's apocalyptic book, the year is 2009, and a Manhattan military scientist, Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith), has survived the plague (due to being immune) that occurred three years before and killed most of the human race. Those who survived have been turned into cannibal mutants, roaming the streets at night waiting for Neville to make a fatal mistake so they will be able to eat him and his German Shepherd, Sam. Not willing to give up, Neville uses his own blood and tests for cures in his high-tech lab–all the while refusing to admit that this is the end of the world.
