The year is 1982, and Solidarity is banned while Poland endures the clout of martial law. When an attorney, Antek Zyro (Jerzy Radziwilowicz), dies in the midst of fighting for the cause of a Solidarity striker, his widow, Urszula Zyro (Grazyna Szapolowska), takes up the cause while Antek's ghost appears frequently to watch over unfolding events.
