  Maggie Andrews (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) is dying, and her son, Nathan (Max Morrow), has collected tin cans to get enough money to buy Maggie a pair of red shoes for Christmas. A twist of fate occurs when Nathan goes to buy the shoes and runs into frustrated attorney Robert Layton (Rob Lowe)–whose wife, Kate (Maria del Mar), is taking over Maggie's music teaching job–and by story's end, Robert has learned the true meaning of Christmas.

  This is another James Spader movie that has been swept under the rug. Such good acting all around . This is a history lesson that must been seen.

So, back to Earth she comes and tries to reunite workaholic widower Ben Bartilson (Brian Kerwin) and his children, Sarah and Matthew (Allison Mack and Eli Marienthal) in time for Christmas.
