Based on I.B. Singer's story, this is the tale of Herman (Ron Silver) who evaded Nazis during the war. It is now the postwar era, and Herman has moved from Europe to Coney Island where he becomes involved with three women. Anjelica Huston and Lena Olin played two of Herman's women, and both received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for their work on this film.
