Tom Arnold takes on the role of Jack Cameron, a modern day Scrooge, in this reworked version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Jack is a bitter divorcee who, since his wife left him seven years ago on Christmas Eve, refuses to celebrate Christmas. But, after visits with the Ghosts of Christmas Past (Leslie Jordan), Christmas Present (Andrea Roth), and Christmas Future (Jed Rees), Jack realizes his mistake and returns to the present in time to enjoy the holidays.

This made-for-TV version of the "Goodbye Girl" features Patricia Heaton in the role of divorced and aging Broadway dancer Paula McFadden who shares an apartment with her young daughter, Lucy (Hallie Kate Eisenberg). Paula agrees to let aspiring actor Elliot (Jeff Daniels) move into the apartment, and over a period of time love enters the relationship. But, their love is tested when Elliot fails in his acting role and considers moving on.
