Her mother tries to deal with the problem but is frustrated while trying to write a book about the tales of Lewis Carroll. When the drama teacher, Miss Dodger (Patricia Clarkson), offers Phoebe a role in the school production of "Alice in Wonderland," Phoebe is thrilled and accepts the role of "Alice." Rehearsals begin, but problems ensue when Phoebe slips away from reality and sees the play's characters leading her through a magical maze of life, which could lead to her downfall.
