In this animated film, Astro Boy (voice of Freddie Highmore) is a super-powered robot created by Dr. Tenma (voice of Nicholas Cage) in the image of his deceased son and is then rejected by Tenma. Then, he learns that his family is in danger and returns home to reconcile with his father in Metro City and to save those he cares for.

A mechanical failure erases "Bud's" vote, and, as Bud waits to recast his vote, it becomes known that the close, national election rests on Bud's one vote that will decide for whom New Mexico casts its electoral votes. Now the media, including local journalist Kate Madison (Paula Patton), jumps on the story, and the candidates–Republican incumbent President Andrew Boone (Kelsey Grammer) and Democratic liberal Donald Greenleaf (Dennis Hopper) sweep into town, catering to Bud's every whim in hopes of gaining that one deciding vote.

Jill calls the police and soon realizes that the calls are coming from inside the house! Not as well received as the original 1979 thriller by the same name.
