  Sunny Holiday (John Gries) is a loser who dreams of becoming a famous singer, and his means to that end is competing in karaoke contests on a 43-city tour. He has left his wife, Bobbi (Daryl Hannah), behind with their daughter and sends her a weekly $1.00 lottery ticket in lieu of child support. Traveling with his manager, Les (Garrett Morris), in Bobbi's pink New Yorker, Sunny heads for Jackpot, Nevada, for the next contest and then, ultimately, on to L.A. for that big break.
