Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway became household names after their much-lauded performances as Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker (ruthless bank robbers who terrorized the South during the depression). Estelle Parsons won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, and the film was nominated for eight other Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Actress, Actor, Director, and Supporting Actor (Michael J. Pollard and Gene Hackman). This was Gene Wilder's first film.
