This is the family film that was the precursor to the "Flipper" series on TV. It is the story of a dolphin, Flipper, that is saved by young Sandy Ricks (Luke Halpin). When Sandy's father, Porter (Chuck Connors), insists that Flipper be set free, the friendship between boy and pet remains, and eventually Flipper gets a chance to return the favor of being saved.
