  Spanning the period of 1960-1980, photographer Buscape-Rocket (Alexandre Rodrigues) and drug dealer Ze Pequeno(Leandro Firmino da Hora), childhood friends from the crime-ridden slums of Rio de Janeiro, provide the major focus of this story. The movie consists of many episodes involving violence and murder among gang members and has been tagged as possibly the best crime film of the 21st century, to date. Fernando Meirelles received a Best Director Oscar nomination.
