This David Lynch film puts the viewer into a dream where characters are replaced by others in a "never-never" existence. Jazz saxophonist Fred (Bill Pullman) is wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife. Then, one day he is no longer in jail but is converted into another person (Balthazar Getty). Very weird, as we follow Fred into his new adventures with a gangster's moll (Patricia Arquette).
