Edgar Bergen and his dummies Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd tell the story to a young girl (Luana Patten) (2) Bongo the circus bear is not happy with his current "job," so escapes into the forest. He finds that life on the outside is tough, but eventually finds his true love. Dinah Shore provides the narration and songs. Jiminy Cricket (voice of Cliff Edwards) provides the transition between the two stories.

  I think it was good, good story line. There was alot of over acting, not by Mitchum, but by Eleanor Parker and George Hamilton. Mitchum and Peppard wrer great. Would like to see it re-done with todays actors, a classic made better!

  The cavalry has a problem on their hands–dealing with the violent Apaches. There are other problems too, as a young officer, Curtis, (George Hamilton), has troubles dealing with the mean captain (Richard Boone). Curtis also tries to re-kindle a romance with an ex-sweetheart (Luana Patten), who is now spoken for. After her fiance is killed by the Apaches, Curtis has a guilt trip and acts as a decoy to get the Apaches out in the open. Good cast.
