Jones won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Oscar for his role in this film, and six nominations were received, including Best Picture.

A good sports movie 09/28/2006 
  This film has potential and covers all the bases while not getting cought up in the "Rocky" mentality. I liked it and will watch it again on DVD.
