This story depicts the struggles of a young Greek peasant, Stavros Topouzoglou (Stathis Giallelis), growing up in Turkey. The Turks are oppressing the Greeks, and Stavros' father gives him family assets that allow him to leave for Constantinople. Stavros leaves Turkey and, through hard work, is able to follow his dream of traveling to America, survive in his new land, and bring his family to America. The film received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Director, and Story and won the Oscar for Best Art Direction.

His rebellious attitude earns him his "Cool Hand Luke" title. But, problems arise for Luke when he realizes that he must now live up to the expectations that other prisoners have for him. Two eposides from the third season are presented on this DVD. "Elaan of Troyius" (aired 12/20/1968, stardate 4372.5)–The crew of the Enterprise has its hands full as they are assigned to carry Petri, an ambassador from Troyius, and Elaan, the Dohlman of Elas, to Troyius for the wedding between Elaan and the leader of Troyius. Petri's task is to teach Elaan good manners and etiquette. Elaan is a tough case and doesn't care for Troyians, but it is time for the people of the two planets to stop warring and join forces against the Klingons, who are trying to take over the planetary system. Speaking of Klingons, they seem to be following the Enterprise. "The Paradise Syndrome" (aired 10/4/1968, stardate 4842.6)–An asteroid is heading toward a planet inhabited by a tribal culture, and the job of Enterprise is to divert it. A landing party is sent to check out the planet and warn the natives. Kirk gets left behind when he is lost after entering an obelisk–the Enterprise MUST get on with its task. But, the Enterprise can't destroy the asteroid and heads back to the planet with the asteroid in hot pursuit. There must be a way, and Kirk, now the planet's medicine man, may be able to help.
